  Today, we have a fansinating conference about cross cultural racism. About racism and discrimination, there should not be in the world but there must be in this society. People form all over the world talk about the situations in their country and what they did to deal or solve this cosmopolitan issue. I am really appreciate what they have done but also have my own opinion. To solve this problem, we need to admit other culture at first. Second, something can not be forgotten but something should be forgiven. Third, we should face the historical problems neutrally. But I also have a question. The man from Spain mentioned that we should never be attached the result. Actually, I don't know why he said this because we have our purpose when we do something and absolutely I want to finish it. Maybe for him, process is more important than the result. It's true and I totally agree with him but he used a strong word " never " to express his resolute decision.

 I had a room mate when I lived in West Hempstead. When I said something, for example, my landlord asked me some questions about the jobs of my friends and I told she what I knew, he would say I was wrong and what I said could not be true without giving any provements. Before I bought car, he usually asked me what l would bought and then told me it was not a realiable car. I thought it was very outrageous. We have an argument or discussion because we want to know the correct answer. We give our opinions to get the result rather than proving your are wrong and I am right. It is totally superfical to do such things. We will enjoy the progress. The answer is not such important, what you have learned inside the discussion is the most important things.

Free writing #2

 It happened 4 months ago at the time I first arrived in America. At that time, my English wasn't very well and I couldn't express my opinion very clearly. Thus, l made a joke. Once a time, I went to McDonald's to have my lunch. I ordered the food very smoothly and I was glad to myself. After washing my hands, I want some napkins to wipe my hands. So I asked the service if she could give me some paper. But to my suprise, she asked me whether I needed a pen or not. I was totally confused: why did I need a pen. I told her I need paper to dry my hands. She understood me and told me that was napkin actually. I laughed to myself because it was the same in Chinese but I was in America! Now, I know the differences between the paper, napkin, tissue and the others. :)

Free writing- Helping #1

It was nearly 2 years ago. It was very crowded in the subway at the 8am because it was the time to go to work. People's shoulders rubbed to the other's. Unfortunately, the weather was very hot. The A/C was not enough and everyone in the carriage couldn't  breath. It was totally muggy. Everyone wanted to escape out of this hell. If you asked a Beijinger how level a hell was, he must tell you 19 because the 19th was in the subway. I was one of the passengers inside the carriage. I had been sweating and there was a man who had been sweating too! But he didn't wipe. I could think about how uncomfortable it was. While I wiping the sweat, I gave him a piece of tissue. He looked at me surprisedly and had been thanking to me. It was just lift a finger but it meant a lot to him. 

Organized or disorganized

  I think I am an organized person. Everyday morning I wake up, I will go to the kitchen to heat up the water while at the same time, I will brush my teeth and wash my face. When I finish my clean work, the water is boiling so I can use it to cook noodles. After breakfast, I must wash the dishes and put them on the same place otherwise I can't find them. There is a upset thing on myself. When I was a child, I had my favorite toy- a warship. Once a time, l played it on a basin and forgot to put it back. When my mom poured away the water, it went away! I was very sorrowful and swore that will put everything back after using it. I was disorganized but I am organized.

ELS108 Vocabulary

1. I think Internet has the greatest impact on my life. We can use Internet to communicate with our friends even they're far away from us. We can use Internet to transfer money, shop online even control our home devises. It makes something ridiculous become feasible. If there isn't Internet anymore, I can't imagine what the world looks like.

2. In Beijing, it is always crowded on the subway. I usually meet someone using their bad to occupy a seat near them so that they can be more comfortable because they get a bigger space. But I think it is totally discourteous. Everyone is tired after a day work. All of we want to have a seat. But the number of seats are limited. It is very selfish to occupy more than one seat if you are single. Your comfort are standing on the others' comfort.

3. I want my close friends have same interests and opinions with me because it is the same interests and opinions that makes us closer. We have the same topic to discuss and do same things together. If our opinions are totally opposite, we need spend a lot of time to negotiate until we agree each other.

4. For me, I would reserve an existing law. In China, the traffic law shows that a car driver has  at least 10% responsibility to an accident even the passenger appears to the highway and causes this accident. It is obvious that the passenger is totally fault but the driver must compensate to the victim a sum. That is unfair! If a man knows he has cancer and will die soon, maybe he will cause a traffic accident. Not only he gets released, his family will get compensation. How about the driver? People only care about victim and weakness because they are poorer.

5.  It's important for me to be environmentally aware. If we destroy the environment, it is difficult to reverse because the destruction is irreversible and we can't do anything to let it recover. For example, if we cut down a tree, we need at least 20 years to replant it. Maybe something bad will happen during this time.

6. I do believe that happiness corresponds with money. Just as Murphy's  law shows us, if you have been thinking something badly, that bed thing will happen. If we keep happiness, we have a positive attitude to finish the assignments whether they're difficult or not.  Boss will admire the employees who has a positive attitude to their work. And we are willing to give other people a hand if we are happy. Maybe the people you do him a favour could be your next boss. Thus, your salary will soon get increased and you will have more money.

ELS Homework #2

1.I think the symbol of China is porcelain which is a hard shiny substance made by heating clay. The porcelain is very beautiful and delicate. I think it is the most appropriate symbol of China. The most important spirit of China is moderate. You can find the size, color and pattern of porcelain is moderate. It is totally suitable to China.

2.There is something happening in the place where I live. There are more and more building and a lot of people live in this district. I don't think it really interests me because too much population brings us too much pollution and traffic jams. This is the trend we can't stop it because our city needs to develop.

3.I don't think our government funds too much money to art but I think it's enough. China is a developed country and we need a large sum of money to invest the basic installation and some Chinese are still poverty. Art is a soul food to human. But if you can't satisfy your stomach, all of the soul food is useless.

4.It is known that China has the third biggest national territorial area in the world. With the development of world, one thing restricts the nation is the land. Everything can't leave with the land. We can use this land reasonably although there are desserts inside.
